Neutral Density Filters for Machine Vision & Industrial Imaging
Camera Butter makes compact fixed ND filters for action cameras, FPV and drones, and some of the same formats are useful in machine vision, UAV, robotics, research and other imaging systems.
We already manufacture a range of compact filter sizes and mounting formats, so existing products can be supplied in anything from a few pieces for testing to larger production quantities.
Measured optical performance
We measure spectral transmission and optical density rather than relying on broad claims such as “premium glass.” In our published testing, Camera Butter ND8, ND16, ND32 and ND64 samples all measured within approximately 0.12 stop of their rated density, with very even transmission across the visible spectrum.

Existing filter sizes and formats
Our range includes compact filters for GoPro and DJI imaging systems, FPV cameras, and our Black Diamond universal format. Depending on the product, available densities include ND4, ND8, ND16, ND32 and ND64.
The Black Diamond universal filter is a flat 33 × 36 × 1.8 mm optical filter designed for a simple slip-in mount, and is available in ND4, ND8, ND16 and ND32, as well as clear.
Our other filters use a variety of compact sizes and mounting systems. Existing products can be ordered in small quantities for prototypes, testing, research or low-volume imaging systems. For small sets, we may also be able to select filters more closely matched to one another.
UAV, robotics and compact imaging systems
Our background is in compact cameras where size, weight, mounting and predictable optical performance matter. The same filter formats can be useful in UAV imaging payloads, robotic vision systems, research equipment and other compact camera or sensor assemblies where a conventional threaded photographic filter is not a good fit.
Larger-volume and custom requirements
If none of our existing formats fits your application, custom production may be possible for larger-volume requirements, typically in the hundreds of pieces.
