Shipping to the US: What You Need to Know

Due to the recent tariff policy changes in the United States, there has been a significant amount of confusion as to what this means for US based customers ordering from Camera Butter.  Hopefully this post will clear up some of the most common questions.

Because change seems to be constant, this page will be updated if things change in the future.

The good news is:

  • YES, we are still shipping to the US
  • NO, there are no tariffs on almost all Camera Butter products

No Tariffs

All Camera Butter products qualify under CUSMA (the free trade agreement between Canada, the US, and Mexico), so you should not be charged tariffs.  Sometimes (very rarely) US customs brokerage makes a mistake - if there is a mistake and you receive a package from Camera Butter with tariffs owing, please contact us BEFORE it is paid and we will do our best to help you work it out.

If you do not need your order quickly, select USPS as the shipping method as it has the least chance of any surcharges or mistakes.

The only exceptions are clothing (T-shirts and hoodies) and battery straps, which may be subject to tariffs when shipped to the US. If you’d like to avoid potential extra charges, you may want to skip these items.

Brokerage and other fees

US Customs now requires formal clearance for all shipments, which sometimes results in brokerage or processing fees. To minimize surprises, we’ve removed shipping options that don’t include these costs upfront.

Shipping costs

Because shipping cross border is now more complicated, some shipping companies have raised their rates a small amount.  We never mark up shipping costs. If prices are slightly higher than before, it’s only because carriers have increased their cross-border rates.

Shipping times

Most shipments arrive on time. Occasionally, US Customs adds a day or two. USPS in particular may take an extra 1–2 days, so please allow for that if your order is time-sensitive.
